    Message from the Board:

    Dear New and Returning Parents,

Welcome from the Society of the Friends of the Grande Prairie Boys’ Choir.   Be proud that you have chosen such a positive path for your son and for those of you with older boys; be proud that your son continues to be involved in such a high calibre group.  Yes, they have a lot of fun, but they also continue to make choices every day that move them one step closer to becoming the finest young men of our community.

We are truly blessed that Jeannie shares her talents with our sons.  Over the years, we have also seen that Jeannie makes very wise decisions regarding who is part of her team to influence the boys at rehearsals, concerts, travel & other community building events.  Your choice to have your son involved in the Grande Prairie Boys’ Choir will provide him with many opportunities to become a fantastic singer, performer, ambassador and host with fine social etiquette.  Hopefully you as parents will also choose to be involved in whatever capacity you can to support the development of these fine young boys.

I believe that it takes a community to raise a child and it takes a strong cooperative community to support our Boys’ Choir.  The mission of the Friends of the Grande Prairie Boys’ Choir is:

To support a relationship between parents and conductor for the betterment of the Boys’ Choir, the boys and the overall Community.  To promote parental involvement through fundraising and other volunteer activities.

I encourage you to take a moment to look over the volunteer list in the Choir Handbook, reflect on your level of involvement, make adjustments to fit your family for this year and let us or Jeannie know if you would like to alter your potential involvement.  As circumstances and your enthusiasm change over the year, feel free to be more or less involved.  There is also the potential to be involved in some fundraising, although most of our funds do come from ticket sales of events as well as generous grants and donations from various sources.  The best that you can do is to promote the Boys’ Choir events to the community.

I wish a fabulous year for your sons and also a year of new friendships among the parents as we work together to support the Grande Prairie Boys Choir. Be sure to fill out your family’s annual membership form at the bottom of the volunteer sheet & bring it to the registration evening.
